The Leyden Group associates have been engaged to identify a leader in food, ingredient and packaging safety assessment to lead a function within a Food Safety and Quality Department. Our client is a household staple brand with a long history of quality food products across several categories.
The person hired for this role will lead efforts to ensure consumer safety by acting as the company’s expert in ingredient and finished product toxicology, risk assessment, chemical contamination, packaging safety/compliance and supporting analytical chemistry. He/She will also represent the company’s interest on various trade association panels and engage with regulatory authorities, as needed. Important internal interactions will include colleagues in Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance and R&D Departments.
Desired qualifications include a graduate degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Food Science or an adjacent discipline and 12+ years of applied experience in the packaged foods and/or ingredient industries. Experience with FDA, USDA, Codex, EPA and HACCP regulations and standards is important knowledge to have. DABT certification is desired.
The position reports to a VP of Food Quality and Safety and is remote supported within the U.S. While not a limiting factor, a person in the Northeast U.S. is preferred for regular in office meetings and external collaborations. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
